Portable oxygen measurement in tankers for food products: InTap on the road.
Oxygen measurement is essential for beer and soft drink quality. Monitoring and checking the oxygen concentration at various measuring points in the production process is therefore necessary. But also during transport the oxygen concentration should be monitored.
During a visit to one of our customers, who specialises in the bulk transport of food products, we discovered that the company has two cleaning lines for their tanks and tanks from other carriers. After our customer was asked to insure the transport of beer, soft drinks and vegetable oil, he specialised in this niche market. In order to ensure the quality of the products during transport and to avoid changes in taste, colour or smell due to oxidation, the tanks have to be cleaned, dried and filled with CO2 before they can be reloaded.
That's when our Mettler Toledo InTap comes into the picture!
The tanks are filled with CO2 and the amount of residual oxygen must be monitored in order to achieve the specifications set. Breweries prescribe very low concentrations of residual oxygen. With its sensitive and extremely stable optical oxygen sensor that requires little maintenance, the InTap immediately proved to be the right solution in the right place.
The ISM (Intelligent Sensor Management) functionality ensures that the measurement results are correct with every measurement. The InTap permanently logs 4 measured values with date and time on a USB stick and makes this available in a CSV file. Our customer really appreciates this user-friendly feature because it makes administration a lot easier.
