The Sommer radar sensors of the SQ series measure continuously and contact-free the flow rate of effluent channels, partially filled pipes and technical ducts in industry and water supply. Due to the non-contact method of measuring, impurities or solids in the water cannot contaminate the sensor.
The device is robust and has a low maintenance interval. The compact design allows easy installation in manholes, sewers or open gutters. On top of it all, the SQ-R is self-learning: variable wind conditions that change the direction of flow at the water surface are filtered out.
For the SQ-R, the ultrasonic sensor has been replaced by a radar sensor, which also makes water level measurement insensitive to foam, wind and temperature influences.
Sommer offers the possibility for a completely autonomous solution for applications in the field, enabling data transmission and remote control. For temporary measurements there is the SQ-R mobile option with battery pack, for easy relocation from measuring point to measuring point. An ATEX version is available for environments with explosion risk.
