Need to measure water levels accurately in environments where dirt, chemicals or floating substances interfere with reliable level measurement? The LevelRay from Teledyne ISCO was developed precisely for these conditions. This compact radar sensor measures liquid level without ever needing to come into contact with the water.

Non-contact measurement using radar technology

The LevelRay employs FMCW radar technology (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave). The sensor is mounted above the water flow and emits radar waves that reflect off the water surface. Based on the time between transmission and reception of the signal, the device calculates the precise water level. Because the sensor never touches the water, contaminants such as sludge, grease or foam have no effect on the measurement, and maintenance is kept to an absolute minimum.

Unlike ultrasonic measurement methods, radar is unaffected by temperature fluctuations, vapours or steam. This ensures reliable measurement even in challenging conditions.

Continues to measure when submerged

With its IP68 rating, the LevelRay can be submerged without any loss of performance. When combined with the optional integrated pressure sensor, the device continues to measure reliably even when submerged. With this configuration, the system automatically switches to pressure measurement when the unit goes underwater, ensuring you have continuous access to reliable measurement data.

Simple integration into your system

The LevelRay communicates through TIENet® or Modbus RS485. Using TIENet, you can connect the sensor directly to Teledyne ISCO DuraTracker or Signature flowmeters for combined level and flow measurement. The sensor also works with hardware from other manufacturers through Modbus. This means the LevelRay fits into virtually any existing measurement setup.

Configuration and monitoring are carried out wirelessly. Using a dedicated app, you can set up the sensor, calibrate it and view live measurement data.

Suitable for water and wastewater management

The LevelRay is highly versatile:

  • Level and flow measurement in sewer networks
  • Research into CSO (Combined Sewer Overflow) and SSO (Sanitary Sewer Overflow)
  • Flow measurement at industrial discharge points
  • Monitoring in wastewater treatment plants
  • Surface water level measurement
  • Suitable for installation in tubes thanks to its horizontal design
