YSI Surfbee is an autonomous measurement solution for monitoring water quality and water quantity in surface water, including lakes, reservoirs and storage basins. The system is designed to reliably collect data without fixed infrastructure and supports both spatial and repeatable measurements.
Using an autonomous measurement platform enhances safety by eliminating the need for manual measurements on the water. It also enables monitoring over longer distances and provides consistent and reproducible data collection, even in locations that are difficult to access or during long-term measurement projects.
Surfbee was specifically developed for integration with ADCP systems for flow measurements and bathymetry, including SonTek RS5 and SonTek M9. The platform can be fitted with the YSI EXO Probe for water quality measurements, which is suitable for parameters such as temperature, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, pH, turbidity and nutrients.
Due to its modular design, the system can be easily adapted to specific measurement objectives and applications. The platform functions as a floating measuring station and automatically transmits measurement data using mobile communication or satellite, making data quickly available for analysis and reporting.
The robust construction guarantees reliable operation in demanding environments and under changing weather conditions. Combined with low energy consumption and limited maintenance requirements, the measurement boat is particularly suitable for long-term monitoring and critical applications in water management and environmental research.
Surfbee supports water managers, research institutions and industrial users in the timely detection of changes in water quality. By providing continuous insight into trends and deviations, the system contributes to informed decisions, more efficient management and greater operational reliability.
