ChemPharma - Crystallisation

ChemPharma - Crystallization - pH, turbidity, concentration, spectrometry, etc.

There’s a lot involved in a crystallisation process. Crystals should be neither too big nor too small. Good process control is an absolute must. Process control starts with correct measurement. The exact starting point of the crystallisation and the growth rate of the crystals can be determined with various techniques.

Refractometry

An inline refractometer directly measures the concentration of all dissolved substances in a solution. From the moment the crystals begin to form, the refractive index of the solution changes.

Turbidity measurement

This measurement technique determines the clarity of a solution. When there’s crystal formation, the clarity decreases. This is immediately detected by the turbidity meter.
