Stirling ULT25NEU portable ULT freezer

The Ocean Genomic Atlas Project (OGAP) team is currently sailing to Puerto Williams in Patagonian Chile on the expedition ship "Vinson of Antarctica", where it will begin its 9,000-mile journey across the Atlantic to collect and study genomic information from ocean organisms.

On board, OGAP scientists have a state-of-the-art mobile laboratory equipped with microscopes and advanced genetic sequencing instruments. They also urgently sought a flexible and mobile ULT storage facility to store the samples and deliver them in pristine condition for later high resolution genomic sequencing. Elscolab and Stirling immediately sprang into action and delivered a portable Stirling ULT25NEU -86°C freezer at short notice. We are proud to support the OGAP mission this way.

The objective of OGAP is to create a genomic atlas of the world's oceans that will provide crucial information to better understand our biology and health. Furthermore, it can serve as a basis for future research and the development of medicines.

Using advanced nanotechnologies, OGAP will decipher the composition of millions of organisms down to the level of individual cells. The result will be an unbiased genomic blueprint of the global biodiversity of the world's oceans with a resolution never achieved before: from cells to ecosystems. The 3D Ocean Genome Atlas (OGA) will be a public database that will be available to researchers and institutions worldwide.

Thank you Ocean Genomic Atlas Project for the great images.
