Steam-Water cycle analysis
Water becomes steam, generating energy. The steam condenses again, completing the cycle. However, there’s much more to it. For instance, the water quality must meet strict requirements, necessitating constant monitoring. SWAS panels (Steam and Water Analysis System) are central to this.
Specialised in online water analysis
ELSCOLAB has been the leading specialist in inline water analysis for more than 40 years. We are committed to ongoing monitoring of pH, conductivity, and dissolved oxygen – three crucial parameters for a water-steam cycle. However, true continuous monitoring of water quality requires even more. For example, sodium, silica, and phosphate also require monitoring. These state-of-the-art analysers with the smallest possible footprint and an absolutely minimal consumption of reagents are an important part of the ELSCOLAB solutions. Analysers for TOC, DCC (Degassed Cation Conductivity), chloride, and sulphate, specifically for the purest water, complete the package.
And there’s more. The intelligence on board the measuring transducers calculates the capacity of the ion exchangers (DiCap), pH based on conductivity measurements, % rejection and CO2. All this without increasing the installation’s footprint.
Turnkey solutions
Users want total solutions, not separate components. It’s only logical that we meet these needs with our comprehensive range of specialised analysers. Depending on the demand or necessity, different analysers are assembled into a customer-specific solution. All analysers can be deployed modularly. The result is an elegant and functional analysis panel.
SWAS, but tailor-made
An analysis panel, better known as a SWAS panel, is more than just the individual analysers. Sampling, cooling, pressure reduction, ion exchangers, flow controllers, etc. it’s all part of it. All these components are modular as well. A custom-made system is developed in consultation with the user. Collaboration and input from users are very important to us. Only in this way do you truly get what you want. So not a ready-made, one-size-fits-all product.
Measurement results and data transfer
Measuring is one thing, but the measured values must ultimately end up in a DCS or SCADA system. This can be done classically via 4-20mA signals or digitally via EthernetIP or Profinet. In this way, in addition to the usual measurement results, you also gain insight into the quality of the analyser. In this way, you have remote access to calibration history, sensor quality, expected lifespan, and much more. The result: more reliable measurements, predictive maintenance, and fewer unplanned interventions. In short, more quality for less money.

Longevity
Correct maintenance, at the right time, is crucial – not only to guarantee accurate measurement results but also to optimise the lifespan of the system. ELSCOLAB takes everything off your hands! By utilising our expertise, your SWAS panel and analysers remain in ideal condition. That way you are assured of good and accurate measurements. This way, you can focus on what really matters, the production of steam and energy.
