Sensors for measuring optical oxygen are available with two measuring principles:

  • Optical sensors (Luminescence)
  • Amperometric or Polarographic sensors 

Optical sensors have made great advances in recent years. They are therefore easier to use and require much less maintenance - no electrolyte, no membrane, no polarisation time - than classical amperometric sensors. 

Optical sensors

Depending on the application, there are various optical oxygen sensors based on “luminescence quenching”. Typical applications include fermentation, food, brewing and soft drinks, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, water treatment, boiler (feed) water and other industrial applications. Ask our specialists to help you choose the most suitable version. 

The sensors are digital and operate with the ISM protocol (Intelligent Sensor Management). This means that you not only have a pre-calibrated sensor, but you can also easily calibrate and perform diagnostics with reporting via PC. You can be sure of the quality of your measurement at any time. 

There are also versions available that directly transmit an mA signal, which means that no additional transmitter is required. Other types communicate digitally via Modbus. 

Amperometric sensors 

The classical oxygen sensor based on the well-known Clark principle. These sensors are also digital and intelligent (ISM). There are two main types, depending on the measuring range and application (0mg/l to saturation and the extremely low µg/l or ppb level). The application areas are the same as for the optical sensors.

Optical sensors

InPro 6860i

  • 0mg/l (ppm) to saturation (100% air saturation)
  • Typical use in fermentations

  • Pre-calibrated via PC software
  • mA or nA signal for easy data processing, also in combination with older systems
  • Digital communication via Modbus
  • ATEX version available 

InPro 6960i

  • Specifically for wort aeration in the brewing process
  • mg/l to saturation
  • Long service life
  • Minimal maintenance
  • Fully digital with ISM
  • Hygienic design

InPro 6970i

  • For extremely low ppb measuring range, to 2ppb (µg/l)
  • Typically in beer and pure water (energy production, boilers, water treatment, etc.)
  • Fully digital with ISM
  • Hygienic design

Amperometric sensors

InPro 6850i

  • All round sensor
  • mg/l or ppm level
  • Short polarisation time (1h)
  • Built-in diagnostic functions for better maintenance planning
  • Fully digital with ISM, calibration via PC
  • Hygienic design 

InPro 6900i

  • Accurate measurements in the low measuring range, µg/l - ppb level
  • Measurements in beer, beverages and pure water, up to 3 ppb
  • Built-in diagnostic functions for better maintenance planning
  • Fully digital with ISM, calibration via PC
  • Hygienic design
