Best practices to extend the service life of your ULT freezer
Lack of maintenance can result in reduced performance of your ULT freezer(s), which is detrimental to your stored samples. We therefore propose the application of a number of preventive measures.
Weekly
Keep ice formation under control by wiping interior doors and rubbers weekly with a soft brush and gently scraping away ice monthly. Be careful not to damage the rubbers when doing so! Clean the rubbers with a dry cloth and check them for cracks.
Monthly
It is crucial to check the filters every month for dust accumulation and clean them if necessary. Also check any alarm messages on the display and verify that the ambient temperature is within specifications. Also check that the freezer is still free-standing all around and not enclosed.
Yearly
Clean up old samples every year. Defrost the freezer and clean and dry it. Have a qualified company carry out technical maintenance.
By implementing these simple measures, you will reduce energy consumption and extend the service life of the freezer, reduce the risk of losing your samples and enhance their viability.
