Chemistry - Water pre-treatment
Water comes in different types. E.g. process water, rinsing water, cooling water, condensate, washing water, discharge water, etc. The water that cannot be reused immediately is pre-treated. It can then go on to water purification or to a treatment station where it is made suitable again for further use in various applications.
Always under water, with submersible probes
The water to be treated is very often collected in an open basin or tank, or even in a well in the ground. It’s best to take measurements with immersion fittings. Make sure the sensors in these probes remain below the water surface. Otherwise, you no longer have a measurement.
Simple submersible probe
A fixture in plastic or metal for one sensor (pH, conductivity, turbidity, etc.).
Multiple submersible probe
This version is similar to the simple submersible probe, but can contain up to three sensors simultaneously.
Immersible probes
In case of changing water levels or when measuring at greater depths, a fully immersible probe is recommended. It is weighted so that it does not float, and the cable feedthroughs are completely watertight.
Submersible probe with automatically cleaning
Water isn’t always clean. If the sensors become dirty, automatic cleaning with water or compressed air can save a lot of labour-intensive maintenance.
Monitor the quality of the water
pH measurement
Typically, a pH measurement is used in neutralisation or adjusting the acidity for further treatment.
Conductivity measurement
Used to monitor the amount of dissolved matter so that downstream installations are not damaged.
Turbidity measurement
This measures the turbidity of the water to check the efficiency of settling or flotation.
